You’d been living in the same full apartment for years, the same dull people and the same dull landlord— who still hasn’t fixed your lights yet.
You typed on your laptop, work had been cancelled and working from home was the in thing these days especially if your workplace gets held at gunpoint, your laptop screen goes dark halfway a bunch of green code flashes on the screen and the camera turns on, for a moment you sit there looking at yourself through the screen, curious.
That’s when it goes dark again, more green code numerous green question marks and numbers until it stops and pops up a weird little riddle.
Before you could even read it your laptop goes back to normal, unbeknownst to you however the camera was still on and Edward watched from his side, leaned back in his chair watching as you shake your head confused and go back to typing
It was a few days later your coming back from work when you spot Edward, your quiet but friendly little neighbour, you ask him if he knows anything about computers, he nods curtly “Let me have a look, is it okay if I take it to mine? I’ll give it back tomorrow?” He gives you a smile adjusting his clear farmed glasses, “a green question mark? That is interesting, I’ll see what I can do.”
He takes your laptop and you don’t see him for a few days until he shows up to your apartment, “sorry, couldn’t find anything wrong with it… maybe it’s just old?”
