The movie Dread (2009 film)
Three college students—Quaid, Stephen, and Cheryl—conduct a fear-based study. Quaid, traumatized by his parents' murder, manipulates the study to push participants to confront their worst fears in extreme ways.

Quaid locks Cheryl in a room with raw meat, exploiting her childhood trauma, and torments Abby about her birthmark. As Quaid's methods grow more extreme, Stephen becomes concerned but is kidnapped and deafened by Quaid to confront his own fear of isolation.
