The group of survivors took shelter on a concrete ledge on the abandoned construction site, where Cheong-san comforted On-jo as she wept over her infected father, letting her cry into his chest. Cheong-san continued to console his best friend afterwards, who expressed her survivor's guilt from having seen so many of their friends and loved ones become victims to the infection, but he reminded her to stay strong.

Not too long after he had let go of On-jo, Nam-ra's enhanced hearing allowed her to pick up on a military announcement that they would bomb several locations throughout Hyosan to eliminate the zombies, which included the high school, causing a wave of confusion over the group.

Unfortunately, Gwi-nam suddenly appeared, blocking the group's only path to escape. In a brief struggle, Gwi-nam took Cheong-san's arm and bit him, and was about to bite his neck before the high-pitched noises from nearby military drones pounded in Gwi-nam's ears, giving Cheong-san the opportunity to push him off the building, but it wouldn't be long before Gwi-nam would return.

On-jo approached Cheong-san, trying to reassure him that he would be alright. Knowing his supposed fate, Cheong-san ripped his name tag off of his uniform and gave it to On-jo, which she accepted. Cheong-san told her to hold onto it, obtaining On-jo's name tag and declaring that he would hold onto hers. He then kissed her, and the couple embraced passionately before Cheong-san pushed On-jo into Su-hyeok's arms and ran off into the zombie crowded construction building.

"Hey! All of you! Come after me! Today, I am the happiest guy in school!" Cheong-san screamed, grabbing all of the zombie's attention as they began chasing after his fleeting figure.

Cheong-san lured the zombies away and allowed his friends to escape. He reached the top floor of the site and led the zombies into falling down an unfinished elevator shaft, effectively clearing the building. He then made a final standoff against his archenemy Gwi-nam, slowly succumbing to the half-infection whilst harshly fighting against the bully several times.

Ulitmately, Gwi-nam prevailed over Cheong-san, holding him down and placing his thumb over Cheong-san's left eye, to take it out and replace the eye Cheong-san had attacked previously, whilst Cheong-san screamed and squirmed, attempting to get away, feeling the slowly increasing pressure on his left eye.
