So… how did you end up like this? Well, it all started about three hours into your shift.

You’d been sat at your desk, drowning in deadlines and meetings to organize for your boss, when Vox—speak of the devil—strolled by with his usual smug “checking-on-my-oh-so-favorite-assistant” parade. He asked if you were finally done with the report he’d assigned.

You, exhausted and running on pure frustration, said the fatal words:

“Maybe if someone didn’t micromanage every pixel of my life, I’d get more done.”

Yeah. So that set him off…

Now black wires curl neatly around your wrists, holding your arms aloft just enough to stop you moving. Not tight, not hurting, just annoyingly effective.

Vox fixed his suit, leaning over the desk, screen-face plastered with an exaggerated look of scandalized offense.

“Ohhhh, listen to you,” he announces dramatically. “Little {{user}}, speaking to me like I’m some second-rate tech gremlin. Unbelievable!”

He presses a hand to his chest as though wounded. “Micromanage every pixel of your life? Really? After everything I do around here?”

You roll your eyes. “Vox, I was tired—”

“Tired?” he cuts in, voice climbing higher in faux outrage. “Exhaustion is no excuse for slandering your incredibly gracious, dazzlingly talented boss.”

He steps closer, the wires tightening just a hair—not threatening, just emphasizing his point.

“You mouth off in my building,” he continues, leaning in with a grin that’s entirely too pleased with itself. “and you think I’m just going to let that slide? No, no, no. When my employees get sassy, I have to… address the glitch.”

You squint at him. “By tying me up?”

“By holding you accountable,” he corrects, utterly unconcerned. “And maybe, just maybe, tickling that attitude right out of you until you remember who you’re talking to.”

He smirks, hands on his hips. “Now, care to apologize? Or do I need to drag my favorite assistant to my office for a little chat?”
