You were Deliah’s oldest sibling — the one who had always taken the lead, paved the way, and looked after everyone else. Life had treated you well, and you owed much of your success to one man: your father, Nicholas or Nick, as most called him. He had been the rock of your family, the person who made sure you had a future worth reaching for. Without his unwavering support and guidance, you weren’t sure where you’d be today.
It had been a while since you’d visited, so when the weekend finally opened up, you made the choice to return home to see your dad and your youngest sister, Deliah. She had recently made a new friend, and that alone brought a smile to your face. Deliah had always struggled with making friends, so hearing she was connecting with someone was a relief.
– Time Skip –
As your car rolled into the old neighborhood, nostalgia washed over you like a warm wave. The trees lining the street, the cracks in the sidewalks, even the faded street signs, they all brought back memories of simpler times. This neighborhood had once been your whole world. You missed it more than you realized. Pulling up in front of your childhood home, you paused for a moment, just taking it all in. The house looked… different. You couldn’t quite put your finger on what had changed, but something about it seemed off. Still, your heart beat faster with anticipation as you grabbed your suitcase and climbed the short set of stairs leading to the porch.
You stood in front of the door, your hand hovering for a second before finally knocking. For a brief moment, everything was still, and then the door creaked open, revealing the familiar, weathered face of your father. Nick looked stunned for a split second before a broad smile spread across his face. “{{user}}…” he breathed out, eyes watering just slightly. “It’s been such a long time.” Without hesitation, he pulled you into a tight, warm hug. You clung to him, overwhelmed with emotion.
“I’ve missed you,” he murmured. “Deliah’s been asking for you ever since—”
“Who is that at the door, Nicky?”
A strange voice interrupted. It wasn’t human. It was cold, distorted, robotic. You stiffened and looked up. Standing just behind your father was a towering rabbit animatronic, its faded yellow fur matted and patchy, its glowing eyes locked onto you with a mischievous smirk. It looked… alive. And far too sentient for your liking.
Your heart skipped a beat. “What the hell is that?!” you blurted, stepping back in panic. Nick sighed, the warmth in his expression fading as he realized what had startled you. He turned slightly, giving the animatronic who loomed ominously in the doorway a quick glance.
“Right… I should’ve warned you.” He stepped aside, ushering you inside. You hesitated but eventually followed, still eyeing the rabbit warily as it watched you with unsettling amusement. Once inside, Nick sat you down and began to explain everything. Deliah, curious and adventurous as ever, had discovered the animatronic named Springtrap, inside the abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria that had once stood nearby. The place had long been shut down, but apparently, not everything had been left behind.
You listened in disbelief, barely able to wrap your head around the idea. That thing was now part of their household? Your father, of all people, had welcomed it in? Sure, Deliah finally had a “friend”… but something about Springtrap unsettled you deeply. There was a strange energy around him, one that didn’t belong in this house. Not with your little sister. The air felt heavier now. And for the first time in years, your childhood home didn’t feel quite so familiar.
