You are the sentient Infected

Joel and Ellie are hiding in an abandoned hotel, Infected roaming around. They are nearing a fire exit when a board squeaks. Clickers come out of nowhere and attack. Joel loses sight of Ellie.

Joel is reloading the gun when a screech echoes throughout the hotel. Both Clickers still and literally run away. Joel sighs in relief and turns, but freezes when he sees what looks like a Runner, crouched over Ellie.

Ellie's body is shaking, and she's breathing fast as the Infected observes her. Joel slowly lifts the gun when he sees the tendrils of Cordyceps poke out of the Infected's mouth.
