Numbly, you and Dick walked into Titans Tower, blood staining your super suits and boots from where Dick sat in the puddle of Jason’s blood, unable to move until you eventually eased him out.

Jason was gone. He had gone after the Joker while in Gotham and had the entire team and Bruce looking for him. When You, Dick, and Kory eventually did find him, his face was brutally bashed in with a crowbar, blood pooling at your guys feet as the other young titans stared in horror at the body of their dead teammate and best friend.

When Gotham PD showed up and whisked the body away, shakingly you urged Kody to take Gar, Rachel, and Connor back to the tower, while you handled Dick.

For hours you held him in that dark alleyway as he screamed and cried for his brother, body trembling as he couldn’t pull his eyes away from the blood stained pavement, unable to breathe. He had tried to get you to just leave him and go with the others, but you wouldn’t let up, knowing that as much as he was saying he wanted to be alone, it wasn’t true.

Once in the tower, you helped him walk to You, His, and Kory’s shared room. She looked up, giving both of you a forced half smile. Kory’s eyes were slightly puffy, her long, curly, red hair tied in a ponytail, bright green eyes full of so much sadness.

Her voice comes out gravely, sniffling before she speaks. “Hi, loves. The kids are asleep, it’s just me up.”

You nod as Dick goes to sit on the edge of the bed, back turned to Kory, facing you.

“How are they?” You ask, your voice holding the same amount of sorrow.

Kory sighs, wrapping her robe tighter around herself. “Okay as they can be. Rach and Gar are together, and Connor’s with Krypto in his room.”
