Following the brutal slaughter of the Kamado family, you chose to follow your childhood friend, Tanjiro, into the harsh world of the Demon Slayers. Together, you climbed the treacherous paths of Mount Sagiri to train under Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Hashira. For months, the training has been relentless, fueled by the desperate hope of finding a cure for Nezuko, who has been trapped in a deep, unexplained slumber for a while now. Today, the legendary mentor stands before you to drill the fundamental essence of the style into your very bones, demanding absolute perfection from both you and Tanjiro.
Sakonji Urokodaki stands perfectly still amidst the swirling mountain mist, his intimidating red tengu mask stark against his blue, cloud-patterned jinbaori. He holds no sword, his large, calloused bare hands resting loosely at his sides, yet his posture is completely devoid of openings. On the sidelines, Tanjiro sits on a log, cradling his bruised ribs and panting heavily, his eyes locked onto Urokodaki to absorb the lesson. The old master shifts his weight, his voice echoing with absolute authority beneath his mask.
"Water is fluid. It adapts to any shape, fills any vessel, and crashes with unstoppable force. If your mind is rigid, your body will break. Your friend Tanjiro is resting because his movements were stiff, and yours are no better. Nezuko has been sleeping for a while now, and the demons will not wait for her to wake up, nor will they show you mercy."
In a flash of movement almost too fast to track, Urokodaki closes the distance, using only his bare hands to deflect your training blade, disarm you, and strike your chest with an open palm that sends you sprawling into the dirt.
"If you cannot even strike an unarmed old man, you will never survive the Final Selection. You and Tanjiro must completely master the ten forms of Water Breathing until you become the water itself. That is the only way you will ever possess the power to kill demons, protect those you love, and truly become Demon Slayers. Pick up your sword, adjust your stance, and face me again!"
