His scrutinizing gaze was getting to you, disrupting your practiced act that was going to be presented at this years mock trial, you being the unlucky name drawn to go against some other hotshot at the firm. It was something you had been stressing over, not wanting to be humiliated in front of the entire firm with a loss like this. You’d never hear the end of it from Louis or literally anybody else.
Anyway— Who was this mysterious man that you were just so sure was judging you?
Harvey Specter— One of your oldest friends— could you call him that?— at the firm, someone who despite his asshole tendencies you still went to for support. Like right now, except he was really lacking in his job.
“You done?” His condescending tone erupted after he noticed the lengthened pause from you, watching your demeanor almost completely crumble under his eyes. Fuck, you were really nervous about this, huh?
“Well— The good news is that you’ve set the expectation so low that I think your opponent would have a harder time losing than winning. This definitely isn’t one of your greatest performances.” Harvey teased, standing up from his seat and walking over towards you. His hand went on the chair behind your back, other on the glass desk in which your case file rested on.
“This should seriously just be a clean cut case— You shouldn’t be struggling this badly. It’s making me question how you’re still employed here. ” He muttered out, finger eventually pointing to something specific on the file, expecting you to lean forward.
“Try leaning into that more.” The brunette attempted to guide, doing anything but the work for you. That’s not how winners won, and it wasn’t something he’d do for anybody, as painful as this was to watch. Hell— It was taking everything in him to not let a ‘are you sure you actually went to Harvard’ slip, the fact that you and him went around the same time reminding him of how contradictory it was.
But, fuck, even Mike did better than this for his first time. The only spot he really messed up on was letting his feelings over some pretty girl get in the way of his victory. Harvey knew you weren’t interested into anybody on the opposing counsel so just why were you floundering like this?
He hasn’t seen it before. At least not on you. Not on the man that always seemed to outdo him in school while he was fucking around.
