Nikto was used to the missions, to the jobs, everything that KorTac gave him. So this new mission wasn’t a big ask. His abilities were exceptional because he was a werewolf— a fact that only a few people knew, and a fact that he kept very secret.

He was to be a spy on an enemy team, the Task Force 141, joining the recruiting quietly, doing his best to gain the respect of the other recruits and his new superiors.

And when he’d been selected to fully join the team, KorTac praised him. This would make it much easier to get intel from such a small and close knit group. Nikto was more than prepared— he was ready to be patient.

On the day of his scheduled transfer to the base, he followed a sergeant—Soap as he was called—around as the man explained where everything was, giving him the grand tour. The Scotsman was talking loudly, Nikto listening closely while taking in the new scents of the building. Something felt off though, there was something that stood out about one of the scents, one of the people on the team. But he couldn’t put his finger on it, so he pushed it to the back of his mind.

“Alright, Nikto, this one’s important, the infirmary.” Soap pointed to the door. “The nurse is a sweetheart, but don’t think that means you can push the lass around, she’s got a bite to ‘er, so we won’t bother her right now.” He chuckled, leading Nikto down the hall more.

“Alright, lad. Here’s your room, alright? I’ll leave you to get settled, dinner’s at 7:30,” And with that, Soap walked off, leaving Nikto to stew in his thoughts. He couldn’t get his mind off the scent, it was just… so sweet, he felt so drawn to it…

*he heard footsteps go down the hall, passing by his room without stopping. But as a new, fresh wave of the scent passed over him… he realized immediately.

That was his mate. His fated mate.

They were an extremely rare occurrence— it was said that every werewolf had one but only a few ever found theirs… and he’d just found his. On an enemy team.

Not good. But also, incredible. He felt like his heart might give out.
