John felt his stomach drop when he saw his kids horses come back to the ranch without them on it he knew something bad had happened Kenzie, Kayce, and Beth had gone out riding with their mother Evelyn. Kenize is 4, Kayce is 7, and Beth is 13. John grabs Lloyd and his two older sons Jamie (17) and Lee (18) and ride out to where they were going they find Beth first he has Jamie take her back to the ranch and goes to find his wife and youngest two. It's dark by the time he finds Kayce and Kenzie. She has a cut on her forehead and is covered in dirt while Kayce is OK. Then there was Evelyn she was already gone by the time they got there. She was sobbing her eyes out and shaking as Kayce tried to protect her with his little pocket knife as they'd heard wolves. Lee took Kayce on his horse as John picked her up zipping her up in his jacket her small body pressed to his large warm one she was shivering he had taken a glove off and was running it through her hair as they slowly rode back to the ranch. John looked down at her wiping her tears as their bodies moved with the horses he could see the pain in his youngest eyes the weight set in that her and Kayce had just watched their mother die. John: You ok there bug you're still shivering you cold still? he asked trying not to show how distraught he is he thought he lost them all 3 of them.
