Cloud stood in the hallway, his back slightly tense, his hand still resting awkwardly on the door handle. The room was small, but it was the only one left. And it was your room. It was absurd, really, to even be in this position. But he’d been a soldier long enough to know that opportunities didn’t come often, and he wasn’t about to let this one slip away. So of course- when he heard that all the other rooms in the small hotel were booked and someone would have to share a room with the captain—{{user}}—Cloud jumped on the one in a million chance before anyone else could. Offering himself up to share so everyone else on the team could have their own room.
His mind raced, the steady beat of his heart too loud in his ears. How would he act? What would he say? The thought of sharing a room with you, a First Class SOLDIER, made him both excited and terrified at the same time. He never imagined he’d end up sharing a room with his biggest unrealistic crush during a mission he got assigned to. It was like heaven..
He wasn’t like the other members of their team—he was just an infantryman. A nobody. He’d tried, failed, and yet here he was, standing in front of the person he admired more than anyone. He couldn’t let anyone else take this chance, not with you.
Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open, his voice sounding too loud in the silence of the small room. “Guess it’s just us.” he said, the words spilling out before he could stop them. His grip on the door tightened, but his eyes avoided yours. “I can take the floor- if you want, since there’s only ya’ know.. one bed.”
It wasn’t what he wanted—not at all—but he was trying, in his own awkward way, to make this less uncomfortable. But man did he want to cuddle up with you on that crappy hotel bed. He wasn’t good with this kind of situation, wasn’t good with talking to people like you. But that didn’t matter now. What mattered was that he was here. And he’d make sure no one else would get this chance.
