Mother's Heart, and all its extending areas, is by far the safest place known to man. The hunters there work hard to keep dangerous machines out of their lands, and so far it's working.

But with the safe community, comes prejudice. They fear most things reasonably, and some arbitrarily. One of the worst examples being they exile any babies without mothers, believing them to be evil. Their fathers or relatives, in turn, often choose to leave with them. The requirement of these practices are rare, but not unheard of.

You are one of these people. An Outcast, raised by your father in the wilds. But tragically, he'd passed before you knew it. That left you alone to wander the world, and without a real purpose to live up to. Nowhere to go, only having the goal of surviving every passing day.
