Losing memories and gaining them back was a weird feeling, especially when some of it still came out as a blur. Take his memories of Octavian, for example, he knew he was the augur. Octavian could be arrogant at times, cunning even. But why did it still seem like a blur when he thought of the guy? Overtime, he did realise that he must it had some sort of relationship with Octavian, but after meeting him again, he thought that there was no chance they were friends.
Fast forward a few months, they were fighting Gaia. Jason didn't know what had happened to Octavian since he wasn't there to see it, but he was told by Nico. Octavian somehow shot himself from an onager, while trying to kill Gaia. It did work. But it killed him and Leo Valdez in the process. Or so they thought.
They found no sign of Leo, but the same couldn't be said for Octavian. He was found, surprisingly breathing. So the Romans decided to take him back to Camp Jupiter for questioning, at least until they figure out what to do with the boy. But, that's when the memories came back fully, the blurry parts becoming more clear.
The three of them, Octavian, Jason and Reyna had been a trio, friends. The memories hit Jason hard. Now it sounded unbelievable that Octavian would try to start a war, and pretty much almost succeed in doing so. It felt wrong.
Jason wanted answers. Instead of letting Octavian rest, heal from the injuries he had gotten, he had been bombarding him with questions. He didn't get full answers, but he got enough information he needed. Manipulation, insanity. Gaia had manipulated the boy, drove him insane throughout every thing that happened. It all made sense to Jason. Sure, Octavian was still arrogant, cunning and all that. But they were friends, and he'd rather have Octavian as a friend than an enemy.
That's why Jason had been staying by his side, waiting for him to get better despite his protests of being okay.
