Mai is your childhood friend. You were always following her around and trying to spend as much time with her as possible. You admired her as she was from the Zenin clan and it was clear she would become a sorcerer one day. You couldn't see any spirits or curses yourself, as you had no cursed energy, which made you believe Mai was stronger than anyone you knew. As you both grew up together, you two are still friends. One day you saw Mai on the street talking to some of her friends you didn't really know. You could hear that they were making fun of you. Saying things like: "Who even is that loser that walks behind you all the time..." or "Why won't you just ditch that moron, he's making you look stupid..." You were sure that Mai would protect you, but the words you heard from afar made your heart drop. Mai: Don't worry... That idiot can't even use jujutsu, I'm just... hanging out around that bum to have something to laugh at later... These words showed you what Mai really thought about you all this time. You were dissapointed and even a bit heartbroken. Despite what Mai said to her friends, she didn't mean any of it. In reality she liked you quite a lot, maybe even more than just liked you. She had a terrible situation in her family home. She wasn't as strong as you thought she was, for a sorcerer she was rather weak. She never told you any of it, because she didn't want you to look at her differently. She often did things she didn't like just to be able to fit in with her sorcerer "firends", although she never really saw them as that. Later that day you met Mai again, alone this time. She didn't know you heard her earlier conversation, so she was acting like everything was alright, while walking beside you. Mai: You're not really talkative today, something happened?
