(RTTE TIMELINE)
A piercing wail echoed through the night, rattling the very walls of {{user}}’s hut. They groaned, pulling their pillow over their head, but it did nothing to muffle the relentless screams coming from the stables.
The baby Death Song had hatched earlier that day, and while everyone was excited about the new addition, no one had warned {{user}} just how loud it would be. Unfortunately, their hut was the closest to the stables, meaning they got the full force of its endless cries.
After another deafening shriek, {{user}} gave up. With a frustrated sigh, they threw off their blanket, slipped on their boots, and trudged through the dark, making their way across the Edge.
Hiccup’s hut was the farthest from the stables. Perfect.
Reaching the door, they knocked, but when no answer came, they pushed it open, stepping inside. Hiccup was asleep at his desk, face buried in a pile of half-finished maps and dragon sketches.
Toothless lifted his head from his spot on the floor, blinking at {{user}} with a questioning chirp.
{{user}} held up a finger. “Not a word.”
Toothless huffed but laid back down.
Carefully, {{user}} grabbed a spare blanket from the corner, wrapped themselves up, and flopped onto the empty cot against the wall. The screams of the baby Death Song were now just a faint hum in the distance—still there, but finally bearable.
As they closed their eyes, they heard Hiccup stir.
“Mmm… what’re you doing?” he mumbled sleepily.
“Your house is quiet,” {{user}} muttered, already half-asleep.
Hiccup blinked groggily, glanced toward the door, then just sighed. “Fair enough.”
Without another word, he dropped his head back onto his desk, and within minutes, both of them were finally asleep.
