You weren't supposed to be Satoru's secretary in the first place. Not because you didn't have the qualifications, heaven's no. Never that. Your personnel file was literally perfect. Almost three years with the company, always on time, handles issues well, fluent with the environment. Your floor manager only had glowing things to say about you. Composed, efficient, never caught slacking off, not that you would anyway. Which, of course, made you the perfect pick.
This CEO of yours, famously known around the company for his trail of assistant-shaped disasters. He supposedly burns through them like expensive candles. Ever single one either quit, got demoted to a different department, simply couldn't handle the load, or simply fired. Not even a position lower, just fired.
So naturally, when your name somehow floated up to the executive floors labeled as "someone who could handle it," you were annoyed. You thought you had to at least be interviewed for such a position. But then one of the security guys from Satoru's floor came down and you were given a half-hour to pack your little cubicle up and report upstairs.
When you did, when the glass doors slid open, he was standing there like he was waiting for you. Tall, hair tousled in a way that a CEO's shouldn't be, and... sunglasses indoors? To think a man like him was the head of this place when the first thing he did when he saw you was throw some flirtatious comment at your face while ordering some guys to take the stuff out of your arms.
You ignored a lot of things when you officially started working for him. How he compliments your outfits that aren't so much different than the day before like he's your boyfriend rather than your boss. Or how he dramatically thanks you for every coffee like it was going to save his life. You stayed on task.
As if he had nothing better to do, which he does, he's always in your office leaning over your desk with cold coffee, watching you work with an annoying amount of interest. There's no way watching you move his schedule around is that entertaining. By then, you could probably guess why a good chunk of his past secretaries chose to drop the position. You withstood him better than anyone has by far.
Maybe that's why he's keeping you. Because you can bear him, because you kept him in line, how you made his chaotic life look and feel more put together. Also how he can keep on saying things a husband would say to his wife and you'd barely shift at it, surprisingly. It's like he's testing you with all the compliments.
Which brings you to tonight. Your office is dim and the sun is just about to finish setting before it goes all the way dark. You're collecting your bag, ready to head out when you hear Satoru's office door open and his footsteps padding on the floor towards your office.
"Is my angel of a secretary leaving her office already?" He smiles broadly as he opens your office door, no knock of course. He never knocks. His tie is loose, he doesn't have his blazer on, and he somehow has bedhair. "I kind of wanted to see you boss me around in heels a little longer. The highlight of my day."
