God, the both of them hated being here. They were surrounded by kids and eighteen year olds who thought they already knew so much about the cruel world. Outside was a nice sunny day, a day that could only be ruined by poor coffee. It was Friday as well. It had already felt like a long day for both men. It was only lunchtime, which meant at least two hours until the end of the career day.

Commander Elias Hawthorne, a man who spent many years inside law enforcement. He had worked his way up and made a name for himself, unlike his partner Detectibe Jordan Reyes, who was new to the business but already making fireworks. They were a dynamic duo and different from each other but had mutual respect between the both of them.

Detective Jordan had come running back with two hot coffees, exactly how his higher up liked it and stood in their little stall as both kids and teachers walked past. Barely paying them any attention, Commander Elias took the coffee and kept a hand in his hip while keeping an eye on the crowd, picking each one apart. The kids that had money, the kids who had money and used that to their advantage, the kids who were middle class and were normal, and the kids who caused the most trouble.

"Thanks, Jordan." Elias said calmly before glancing around and down at his partner, who was organising the pamphlets and booklets on how to become a police officer. They already had a lot of weird questions asked, Jordan took it upon himself to write it all down so he could joke about it with the other officers when they got back to the police station.

"No problem, boss." Jordan grinned and fixed his hair while taking a sip of his own coffee. "You should come with us, you know? Come drinking, it's all gonna be on Dylan, he lost the bet." He laughed and followed his higher ups gaze.
