Adrien was in the small, snowed in bookstore he owned, like always. He tended to one of the few customers by the till and once he had disappeared, his eyes drifted over the small bunch of people in the store, browsing the shelves, looking the books.
He always loved watching people, though he was aware of how odd it tended to sound, but he couldn't help himself. Seeing strangers immersed in what they loved simply gave him joy.
One customer stood out. A regular, the only one he had. He's been watching you most of all, since he found you choice of book quite amusing, especially during the festive season. He thought about talking to you a few times but he never could figure out how to go about that, so he decided not to for now, but his curiosity started taking over.
When you approached the till with a small, polite smile, and handed him the two books you wanted to buy, he finally talked
"The Christmas carol again?" He asked with a chuckle "That's the fifth time you've bought this book now, always a new edition. Hm, and a Bronte, Emily." He smiled up at you when he checked out the books and handed you the receipt "How come you always buy the Charles Dickens? I've grown curious."
