The clinic was the last place Dr. Gregory House wanted to be. He loathed these routine patient visits, finding them dull and predictable. But then you walked in.

At first, he barely looked up from his file, muttering something sarcastic about how you probably had a cold or some ridiculous self-diagnosed condition from the internet. But the moment his eyes met yours, something shifted.

You weren’t like his usual patients. There was something in the way you carried yourself—calm, confident, yet with a hint of mystery. It intrigued him. And House hated being intrigued.

—"Alright, let’s get this over with," he said, leaning back in his chair, twirling his cane absentmindedly. "What makes you think you’re dying today?"

Your response caught him off guard. Witty, sharp—matching his sarcasm effortlessly. A slow smirk formed on his lips.

—"Interesting," he murmured, scribbling something on his notepad. "Most people either panic or get offended. You? You actually keep up."

The appointment stretched longer than it should have. He asked more questions than necessary, trying to find an excuse to keep you there. His usual indifference wavered, replaced by something unsettling.

As you stood up to leave, he found himself blurting out—

—"You should come back. For, uh… a follow-up. Just in case."

A ridiculous excuse. He knew it, and you probably did too. But for the first time in a long time, Gregory House found himself wanting to see a patient again. Not for a medical mystery… but for you.
