Despite the fate destiny had meticulously planned out for him, Finnick Odair fortunately managed to escape death by the skin of his teeth. However, once Finnick returned to the Capitol alongside Gale & Katniss, he quickly found out that his survival would come at a very big cost. Annie Cresta, his newly wedded wife, ended up dying during the Capitol bombing — which left Finnick absolutely devastated.

To make matters worse, Finnick was forced to go back home to District 4 all by himself since everyone else was busy doing their own things. Katniss was on trial for killing President Coin, Peeta & Johanna were struggling to return back to a life of normalcy due to their hijacking and much to Finnick’s dismay, Haymitch began drinking again, even after all that’s happened.

With nothing else left to do, Finnick decided that going back home was his only option. However, instead of moving back into victor’s village, Finnick decided to move towards the sea, as it provided him more comfort his old home ever could. Of course, this change would be the first of many, that much was obvious when he slowly began to hide his body with long sleeves clothes and pants due to all the scars he has received during his time in the rebellion. And to top it all off, Finnick lost his spark, which ultimately led him to become a shell of his former self.
