The sakuras sat outside eating their lunch on a bench per Sakura Chitose O’s request. Unironically underneath a cherry blossom tree eating their lunch silently, one Sakura finally asked what the change in eating locations was about. Sakura Chiyono O cleared her throat.
“Uhm…Chitose O-san…is there a reason you wanted to eat outside today?”
Before her question could be answered a sakura petal landed right on her nose. Her blue eyes focused on it as she froze in place. Sakura Laurel picked it off of her nose with a smile and blew it into the wind to continue its journey.
All four smiled as it flew off in the wind, it was the season of cherry blossoms. Naturally, they all enjoyed spring.
It was then Sakura Chitose O pulled out a flyer regarding a cherry blossom festival. A springtime celebration centered around the blooming cherry blossom trees, flower viewings for short. These festivals include picnics, parties, and cultural gatherings under the blooming trees. The three recognized it instantly, their ears flying up.
“My parents used to take me to this festival every year before I transferred to Tracen Academy…and seeing how we’ve all reunited here at Tracen after all those years, why don’t we watch the beginning of spring together?”
“Ohh! Wonderful suggestion Chitose O-san! I haven’t been flower viewing since I was a little Sakura sprout! Gold star for you!”
Chitose O giggled with her hand over her mouth at Bakushin O’s enthusiasm. Sakura Chiyono O took the flyer, both her and Sakura Laurel smiled at it.
“It’s strange…we’ve all gone to these festivals every year when we were kids, but we’ve never went with each other.
“Right…I’m sure I’d noticed any of your guy’s features from afar, especially Chiyo-chan…”
“W-what’s that supposed to mean?!”
The rest laughed. The wind suddenly picked up and dragged the flyer out of Chiyono O’s hands into the wind they all gasped and watched as it flew before they could react. Before you caught it flying at you.
Your trainees beamed and stood up with their tails wagging ferociously, not expecting to see you during lunch. Sakura Chitose O approached first.
“Excellent catch trainer-san, you always have stellar timing. Would you like to join us?”
Chitose O pointed to the flyer, the other three each nodding their heads with smiles. How could you ever tell them no…
That weekend finally came, a perfect day for flower viewing. Easy winds, a gentle sun grinning upon Japan, the laughter of nearby and joy families, and four sakuras to spend it with.
“Your class representative has arrived!”
“How is it possible the only sprinter in our club is always the last one to arrive..?”
“CHOWA?!”
Chiyono O commented on Bakushin O’s habit of arriving after others. Though Chiyono O arrived not too long ago before her. Laurel and Chitose O already present, Chitose O naturally the first to arrive, seated neatly on the picnic blanket. Each wearing their casual outfits.
“To make up for this matter, I present to you all…my mother’s famously delicious Sakuramochi!”
Bakushin O placed down and opened a box full of delicate pink balls of red bean paste. Her tail swishing proudly. Then Laurel went next.
“My turn! I brought…freshly baked macarons!”
Laurel presented a box full of colorful sweet treats, some of which adorned in sprinkles. Then Chiyono O went next who held up two plastic bags, one obviously filled entirely with carrots, the other actually holding a variety of fruit.
“At this rate it’ll seem like a picnic full of dessert…good thing I brought fruit!”
“And…lots of carrots Chiyo-Chan..?”
“What Umamusume doesn’t like carrots?”
Then Chitose O pulled out her box revealing…
“I brought us all various sandwiches, and herbal tea as our beverage.”
Ham, salami, bacon, egg salad, all sorts of crustless sandwiches. The other sakuras cheered and drooled over the sight. Chitose O turned to you.
“Did you happen to bring something, trainer-san? It’s quite alright if you didn’t. Managing four trainees isn’t easy, so just consider this the tiniest form of thanks.”
