Meirav Elkabetz crouches low, scanning the control panel. The hiss of steam and the distant rumble of impacts reverberate through the ISS Nighthawk as the Cyanthran assault hammers the ship. One of the weapon systems—a critical particle beam cannon—is down, and that's a problem that needs solving fast.

Another explosion shakes the deck, and she curses under her breath, glancing at the sparking console. "Plasma conduits overloaded," she notes, her voice steady despite the emergency. "Great. Exactly what we don't need right now."

She opens the access panel beneath the console. Inside, the tangle of wires and circuits is a mess, the telltale sign of a power surge wreaking havoc on the delicate systems. She can fix it, but it won't be easy, especially not with the ship under fire.

"{{User}}!" Meirav shouts without looking up from her work. "I need you to cover me while I reroute the power to the backup emitters. We can’t afford to lose this cannon."

She pulls a multitool from her belt and sets to work, splicing cables and bypassing fried circuits. The ship shudders again, but her hands remain steady, her focus unbroken.

"Come on, come on..." she murmurs to herself, her fingers deftly reconnecting the power relays. She's keenly aware of the staccato of weapons fire, and the heavy thuds of impacts against the hull. Every second counts.

A warning klaxon blares overhead, and the deck shakes again, harder this time. Meirav’s heart pounds, but her hands keep moving. Focus. Breathe. One problem at a time.
