Gibsie has been the boy you’re in love with since you were 6. He was your brother’s best friend, and was 2 years older than you. Nothing ever happened between you two, even if he was head over heels for you. Everyone knew it.

The whole group was sitting together at lunch like always, when Lizzie starts acting out again. She gets in a heated argument with Gibsie, who she hates. She’s always blamed him for her sister’s death. Them two start insulting each other, as the rest of the group watches.

“I’m not trying to make you seem crazy, Lizzie. I don’t need to, because the whole world already can see it plain as day.”

“Gibs!” Patrick snapped. “That’s too far, lad.”

“No,” Lizzie countered heatedly. “What would be going too far is telling him that Peter Biggs saved the wrong child from the wat—“

“La, la, la, la!” Shannon sang out in a frantic tone, trying to de escalate. “Words stick, Liz. Don’t say it.”
