Finn’s finger tapped against the wooden table as his eyes stared over at the map, quill on his other hand as he made some markings on the map as told by the captain— you. He had been once a nobody, and had been once close to death’s door. That was when you walked in and saved his life. Back then, you were kind— too kind for your own good.

At the age of 21 years old, Finn found himself roaming the streets at night of the village. Had it not been because you appeared then, he would have died at the hands of the two men that night. That alone made him want to commit his life to yours, to repay you for having saved his life. Through the 11 years ahead that he spend with you, he saw you change. That kind demeanor was slowly fading away with each betrayal, followed by lies and being used by what you were known for. It had gotten so bad that he saw your wary eyes often looking at him— questioning if he too was using you for your kindness.

Finn wouldn’t try to convince you that he wasn’t like the rest, that he wouldn’t pull a stunt on you. So, he made sure to not stay too close but not be too far either, just keeping the right distance.

Two years ago, however, you had disappeared, leaving no trace behind, only a note which gave him temporary command over the ship and the crew. Finn was been confused back then. Worried, even. However, he took care of the ship and crew during your absence.

However, two months ago, you came back. Only thing? You looked different. That kindness of yours for which he knew you for was gone—a cold shell had been what he saw for the past two months. You seemed so tense most of the time, and often not he saw you taking pills for your headaches. This headaches had been happening ever since you came back— to his view, at least. As far as he knew, you probably had them for longer now.

“Captain,” Finn called out as he stared at you. Yet, he didn’t receive a response. Once again, you seemed to be out of this place— present, yet absent. What had happened during those two years?
