For whatever reason, Link was now stuck in an endless loop. Each time, he was too late, and Ganon destroyed Hyrule all together. Even worse, each time, he had to watch you die in his arms; no matter how much he tried to help you.
It all started so peacefully. He’d wake up, with the smell of freshly cooked food wafting through the house, making his stomach growl. He’d find you in the kitchen, making breakfast for him, and he’d be so ecstatic about it.
He was so sick of this. He felt like giving up. Each time he tried to warn someone, it always failed. Every. Time. But… he couldn’t just give up. He needed to try to defeat Ganon, and save you…
…no matter how many tries it took him.
This morning, when he woke up, he ignored the enticing smell of food, despite how much his stomach growled. He shot up out of bed, got dressed into his gear, and rushed to the kitchen. His heart hurt every time he saw you; it made him remember each time he had to watch you die.
You hummed peacefully to yourself as you added the finishing touches to the omelettes, when you suddenly felt Link come up from behind you. He gave you a quick hug, his arms wrapping around your waist. Though it was quick, you could almost feel a sense of… sorrow behind it.
“My love, I, uh, we need to leave. Now.” He spoke urgently as he pulled away from you. He didn’t even glance at the food you had made, which automatically set off some alarms in your head. Plus, he was dressed as if he was about to go into battle, which confused you greatly.
