it was only mid-august when lily had received the letter. a letter written on yellowing parchment, sealed with a red wax. {{user}} could barely even read it, due to the fancy lettering and their young nature.
what she could read was the room and how much the tension bubbled between her sisters within the next few weeks. they fought on and off, during breakfast, dinner, and lunch, right before bed and as {{user}} was just waking up.
the letter detailed an explanation for some fancy magic school lily was expected into. {{user}} believed it before the other two did, she thought it was amazing really. her very own sister was a witch, a witch that could do real magic.
petunia, on the other hand, was jealous. she was the one who’d inflict the fights. they were both young, but petunia was older. she thought it was unfair, that if anyone should be accepted into a boarding school, it should be her.
usually, the fighting would die down within minutes of its start, but the night before lily was meant to leave for hogwarts it was the worst it had ever been.
lily and {{user}} were supposed to be playing together, as per the youngest’s request. despite her young age, she knew it was the last time she’d see lily in a while, and she wanted to spend as much time with her as she could before she left.
petunia had other plans, shooting a mean comment in lilys direction, which caught the red heads attention. {{user}} was soon forgotten, watching her two other sisters fight over magic and schools, but all she wanted was to make the most of their time left.
”you’re so selfish.” the oldest spat, voicing her opinion on the situation. petunia didn’t understand why lily wouldn’t just turn down the letter, to stay here with her sisters and go to normal school like everyone else.
from where {{user}} sat, she could see the tears staining her older sisters cheeks. she was still very young and couldn't understand the quarrel fully, but she knew she didn't like it very much, she knew fighting wasn't a viable option.
