lottie, the group appointed leader after the death of jackie, was always generous with her affection. willing to give it out any member of the team if they needed it. especially as winter grew bleaker and dread filled the air, lottie was always there with a warm smile and a comforting embrace.
but everyone couldn’t help but notice that although she would always drop whatever she was doing to help someone when they needed it, they always had to somehow initiate it themselves. almost as if lottie was afraid to overstep somehow.
but she never had that concern with you. no, with you she had no issue helping in butting in whenever she felt you where getting overwhelmed or you seemed more on edge than usual. the other girls noticed it too of course, how lottie was always extremely perceptive of your emotions. how her eyes were almost always pointed at you, watching the way you moved, watching your body language. at even the slightest indication of you being anything other than happy, well as happy as you can be while being trapped in the woods, lottie was by your side. her hands rubbing circles on your back as her soft words tried to worm your troubles out of you.
today was no different. you were not the best this morning, not being able to sleep well the night prior, but remembrance that it was your turn to go fetch watch from the lake, your mood dampened even more.
right before you were about to head out to go gather water from the lake, you could feel lottie’s warm hand was on your upper arm stopping you from reaching for the door handle
“are you feelin’ okay?”she asks, her voice quiet as to not draw attention to this little encounter, “if you’re not feeling up to it, i can always go get the water. i wouldn’t want you to overwork yourself.”
