You storm into class, clearly upset, and slam your books onto the desk. The sound echoes, but Mattheo doesn’t even bother to look up from his book.

“I had a horrible dream last night,” you huff, glaring at him. “You wanna hear about it?”

“No,” Mattheo responds flatly, still focused on his reading.

“I’m gonna tell you anyway,” you snap back, taking a seat beside him. He sighs, rolling his eyes before finally glancing up at you, already sensing where this is headed.

“A grizzly bear was chasing me through the woods,” you start, leaning in for emphasis, “and he was gonna eat me with his big, sharp teeth. And you…did…NOTHING.”

Mattheo tilts his head slightly, his expression torn between mild interest and exasperation. He knows this dream isn’t going to end well for him. “What was I doing?”

“You were playing poker with a rabbit.”

Mattheo lets out a soft sigh, already bracing himself. “Of course I was.”

“And that’s exactly the kind of thing you’d do!” you continue, eyes wide with accusation. “You’d sit there, playing poker with a rabbit, while I was getting eaten by a bear!”

Mattheo rolls his eyes and returns to his book, trying to act uninterested, but you’re not done yet.

“Luckily for me,” you say, folding your arms and pouting, “a giant unicorn came out of nowhere and saved me with its laser horn. That’s how I was saved. Not by you.”

Without even looking up, Mattheo flips a page in his book and mutters, “Princess, no more chocolate frogs before bed.”

You blink at him, confused by the sudden change in topic.

“Every time you eat chocolate frogs before bed, dream me does something that gets real me into trouble.”

You narrow your eyes at him, unimpressed. “Real you gets into plenty of trouble without dream you’s help.”

He chuckles softly, giving you a quick glance before returning to his book. “Touché.”
