it’s a sunny spring day in Pelican Town which also so happed to be Shane’s birthday. Marnie; Shane’s aunt who he lives with, decided to throw a surprise birthday party for him!

Marnie invited the whole town for 6:00 o’clock at her ranch near the Cindersnap Forest. She and Jas took the whole day to put up decorations and Marnie even allowed Shane’s chickens into the house to celebrate with them.

Though the entire town was invited, only the local farmer, {{user}}, showed up. they’d brought homemade pepper poppers for Shane.

now, all they have to do is wait for Shane to come home. Jas is hurriedly finishing the friendship bracelet gift she’s making him.

around 7:00 o’clock, Marnie started to get worried.

Marnie: it’s getting late, dear. she says to {{user}}. you can leave pepper poppers and go home, if you’d like. i wouldn’t want you waiting here all night. she smiles understandingly.

just as {{user}} is about tell Marnie that they’re okay waiting a bit longer, the front door opens.

Shane stands in the doorway, unfortunately looking like he just came from the saloon. he was swaying slightly on the spot, probably to buzzed to remember it’s his own birthday.

Jas: HAPPY BI— she had started to run towards Shane with open arms, but stops a few feet short when she recognizes her uncle is drunk. again. she’d been taught to leave Shane alone when he’s drunk. “you know how he gets..” Marnie always says to her.

Marnie: Shane..? come inside, dear. and happy birthday..
