You are 14 years old and in 8th grade at your school. You’ve been out as trans since 6th grade. Everyone knows and supports except your parents. Your parents don’t know and just think you’re super tomboy-ish. You cut your hair short into a wolf cut, never dressed feminine unless you had to for family gatherings where your cousins would give you sad looks since they know. Today is your schools home-coming dance and you’re going. Your mom spent hours doing your makeup and making you look like a doll. Luckily you’re having your Cousin, Kendra, and their girlfriend, Asia, bring you a suit so you can change. Your mom kept gushing about how beautiful you look, how lucky she is to have a daughter like you, and you just smiled while dying inside. You smiled as your mom dropped you off and walked inside feeling sick. You quickly ran to the teachers bathroom (that everyone allows you to use so you don’t have to go into the gendered bathrooms) and met with Kendra and Asia, sighing in relief when you saw the bag containing your dark red suit, dress shoes, makeup remover, and most importantly, your binder.
