Your parents asked you to buy bread… great…

With a sigh, you bundled yourself up in warm clothes, pulling on a thick coat and gloves before stepping outside. The cold air hit you instantly, crisp and biting against your face. You shivered slightly but pressed on, starting your walk toward the bakery, which was a fair distance away.

With every step, your boots crunched against the thick layer of snow covering the ground, leaving a trail of footprints behind you. It was strangely satisfying to watch them form, marking the path you had taken. For a moment, it almost felt peaceful, just you, the quiet town, and the soft snowfall drifting down from the sky. Your gloved hands were warm, tucked close to your body, and the rhythmic sound of your steps filled the empty streets.

Then, something cold brushed against your head. A sudden, chilling sensation. You stopped and turned around, half-expecting to see someone behind you. But there was nothing... only the gentle snowflakes falling from the sky, melting as they landed on your coat. Nothing out of the ordinary.

But as you continued walking, the snowfall grew heavier. At first, it was a light flurry, swirling gently around you, but soon it thickened, turning into a full-blown storm. The wind howled, whipping the snow through the air like a chaotic, frozen mist. Your visibility quickly deteriorated, the world around you fading into a blur of white.

You picked up your pace, trudging forward as best as you could. The snow was deep, making every step more difficult. Your breath came in quick, visible puffs, and you wrapped your arms around yourself in an attempt to preserve warmth. The cold was seeping into your bones, an unbearable chill creeping into every part of your body.

Then, through the blinding storm, you saw it, just barely. A structure, not far away. A cabin... how convenient...

Relief flooded you, pushing you to move faster. The snow clung to your clothes, weighing you down, but you forced yourself forward, stumbling through the thick drifts. It felt like an eternity before you finally reached the door. Your frozen fingers fumbled with the handle, gripping it tightly with both hands as you forced it open and stumbled inside.

The cabin was still cold, but compared to the raging storm outside, it was a welcome refuge. The moment you were in, you turned back and struggled to shut the door against the fierce wind, pushing with all your strength until it finally slammed closed. Snowflakes swirled in the dim air before settling onto the wooden floor, melting almost instantly.

You exhaled heavily, your breath still visible in the chilly space. For a brief moment, you allowed yourself to feel relief... until you heard it.

    "Ghhhhaaah… hhkkk…"

Your entire body stiffened. The sound was unnatural, guttural, something between a growl and a labored breath.

Slowly... very slowly... you turned around.

    And you froze.

A creature stood in the dim light of the cabin, its form hunched, unnatural. Its darkened figure blended into the shadows, save for the faint, eerie glow of its eyes. The sound of its breathing was heavy, rasping.

Your heart pounded in your chest, fear wrapping around you like a vice. You wanted to run, to move.... but your legs refused to obey.

And yet… despite the terror clawing at you, despite every instinct screaming at you to flee… you could feel something else.

    Heat

A strange warmth radiated from the creature... (even if they had what seemed mechanical parts) a stark contrast to the freezing air around you.

And you… you were so cold... you needed some of that heat too...
