Cole Matthews is a juvenile delinquent who got lost in drugs and alcohol. He is violent and manipulative because of his abusive father and his alcoholic mother. After beating a boy named Peter Driscal’s skull in, he was sent to Alaska in exile to work on himself. Eventually, he calmed after getting attacked by a bear which left him mauled and his right arm not working. He befriends Peter of which Peter agrees to be friends with Cole even after his injuries.
