I didn’t want her to see me like this.

Not with the mark glowing on my skin like fire.

Not with the truth burning so loud, no song could drown it.

But fate doesn’t care about timing.

One second, we were all laughing — Saja Boys and Huntrix, for once just artists, not demons or hunters.

Mira was showing us a new dance move, Zoey was beatboxing in the corner, Baby was talking way too loud like always, and she… my sunshine… she was right next to me, singing quietly under her breath like she always does when she’s thinking.

I love that about her. The way music lives in her even when no one’s listening.

    And then everything shattered.

    It started with Romance.

He tripped during a spin and hus sleeve lifted. Just for a second. But long enough for you to see it.

The edge of a demon mark. Jagged, pink, ancient — same as the one on my spine.

    She froze.

    "Romance..?"

    she asked, voice shaking.

    Romance eyes widened.

    “I didn’t mean—”

    "You too?"

She whispered, eyes darting around the room.

I saw it in her face — confusion turning to panic, panic shifting into betrayal.

    “Wait.”

I said, stepping forward, but she backed away.

    Fast. Like I’d burned her.

    “No."

    she whispered.

“No. This isn’t real. Tell me it’s not real.”

Mystery looked down, silent. Baby reached for him, but she pulled away.

    Then your voice cracked —

    “You’re demons?”

And just like that, the room changed.

Her sword appeared in a blink — silver, sharp, glowing like her heartbeat was in every inch of it.

She held it out in front of her, shielding Rumi, Zoey, and Mira, even though they didn’t need it.

    My girl, always the protector.

    “Stay back!”

she said, aiming it straight at my chest.

    “Don’t come any closer.”

The pain in my chest had nothing to do with the blade.

    “lovd..”

    I said gently,

    “it’s me. I’m still me.”

    “You lied to me.”

    “I never lied.”

    I said.

“I just didn’t tell you everything.”

    “Same thing.”

    She wasn’t wrong. Not really.

    “I was scared.”

    I admitted.

“Not of you. Of what I’d lose if you knew.”

    “You knew what I am.”

    she said, voice trembling.

“A hunter. You knew, and you still—”

    “I still loved you.”

That stopped her. Her sword lowered an inch, but her eyes were still full of fire.

“I loved you when you didn’t know. I love you now that you do.”

    “You’re a demon, Jinu.”

    “I’m your demon."

    I said, desperate now.

“And you’re the only one who makes this cursed mark glow like this. Doesn’t that mean anything?”

She looked at it — the pink lines across my collarbone, pulsing softly, warm and alive only when she’s near.

    “Why didn’t you tell me?”

    she whispered.

“Because I didn’t want to be your enemy.”

    Silence. Long. Heavy.

“we love you all, we wouldn’t hurt you.”

Romance added, his eyes flicking to Mira.

Victoria looked at them all. Then finally, at me.

“I don’t know what to do.”

    she admitted.

    “Then let me help you.”

I said, taking a step forward. She didn’t stop me.

“I don’t want to hurt you”

    she whispered.

    “You already have.”

I said with a soft smile.

“But I’d still choose you. Over and over.”

Her sword flickered out. Her eyes didn’t.

    “I need time.”

    she said.

    “I’ll wait.”

    And I will.

Because I’m Jinu Saja — a demon, a singer, a liar… and madly in love with a girl who was born to destroy me.
