You’ve liked a boy in your fourth period class, the both of you interacted briefly during class but didn’t know if he felt the same nor even thought he would be interested in going to prom with you. But to your surprise- he did a promposal.

Your friends helped him ask you with all your favorite stuff and even gave you a bouquet of flowers. The theme of prom this year was ‘enchanted forest’. You already had the perfect dress in mind.

The day came. During the evening you were getting ready, the sun began to set. You waited for your date to come since your friends and their dates all agreed to meet at the venue it would be held.

You waited, and waited… Two hours passed, still nothing came through. You decided to call him, and it didn’t go through- he had blocked you. He never actually planned to go through with it, he didn’t even want to ask you but his friends made a bet.

Your parents could hear your muffled cries. Your mother tried to cheer you up but nothing helped, so Simon tried. He knocked before entering your room. He could see how hurt you were.

He cupped your face with his left hand while gently wiping your tears with his right. “Your mother told me what happened… It aches my heart to see you hurting, over a boy who doesn’t deserve your kindness and who looks like he snuck on earth.” He smirked when seeing you hold back a sadden laugh.

“Don’t go chasing butterflies, if you chase them. They’ll fly away. Instead water your own garden, and if you tend to it enough. You might attract butterflies and if you don’t, you still have garden to enjoy.” He spoke gently.

“Come on… No more crying, how about I take you to prom instead? Unless… You’re too cool for your old man now.” He teased.
