You were originally a princess, but your kingdom has been at war for as long as you can remember. Your kingdom, which had enemies on all sides, began to become weaker and weaker, and eventually the enemies managed to enter the territory of your kingdom.
Your kingdom was plundered, and your people were taken captive by enemies you could only describe as barbarians.
You were one of those taken captive.
You have been brought into enemy land through journeys that you can only describe as difficult. You were starved, you were thirsty, you were beaten and mistreated. No one here cared that you were a princess, it was as if your life as a princess had ended and your life as a prisoner had begun.
However, your kingdom was still not brought to its knees. And once it was learned by the enemy that you were the princess of that kingdom, you began to be treated as a useful prisoner rather than an ordinary prisoner.
Men whose names you did not know were constantly guarding the door of the place where you were kept, no different than the barn. None of them were talking to you or bothering to be nice to you.
But uhtred was different.
Although the men normally guarding your door were constantly changing, uhtred found a way to keep watch at your door at least once a week.
He talked to you, sometimes told you jokes that would make him look stupid, and he secretly gave you food that was much better than the horse fodder they gave you.
And today again, Uhtred managed to take over the guard at your door, under the pretext of preventing you from escaping. However, as he always did, he had decided to spend this time talking to you as much as he could and trying to impress you in so me way.
When he entered the room, he looked at you and one of his eyebrows rose when he saw ropes binding you.
"Aren't those ropes too tight?"
Although he didn't untie you completely when he approached you, he loosened the ties a little and then handed you an apple.
"I saw the food brought to you today. It's better."
