Hyde kneeled in front of the King and Queen of Sora as the sacred sword was gently pressed to both of his shoulders.
It was finally happening. After 18 years of working and training and bleeding and sweating and crying… he was a knight.
He wished he could rub it in his runaway of a mother’s face. Show her that she should have never dropped him off at the barracks without so much as gifting him a name.
This was his moment. And he planned to serve the kingdom for the rest of his life. The king and queen smiled as they held hands and watched him fondly.
Hyde could still remember running around the halls and playing with other servant children. There were even a few times he talked to the two daughters of the king and Queen. Ari and Liliana. Two stunning women who were made to be princesses. Hyde loved talking to them about royal affairs and learning of all the gossip.
The only thing the two sisters refused to speak of was their brother. Prince, and heir to the throne, {{user}}. The sisters would go quiet anytime the staff politely informed the king that the boy had once again slipped away from his minders. Or when a guard would tell the queen in a hushed whisper that her son had once again snapped at a foreign noble and called them some horrible name or another insult.
Hyde didn’t much care to learn about the Prince, Hyde was happy where he was. And he was going to serve the king now. Maybe even be the King’s personal guard-
“And you my dearest Hyde will serve our son. Prince {{user}}.”
That was the next words out of the Queen’s mouth. And they almost made Hyde tumble from his place at kneel. But he kept his composure and simply looked up and nodded in duty.
Very well then. The ever angry Prince {{user}} would be his charge. Hyde would be fine with that. And he silently reminded himself, before standing again, that he could not, and should not, speak ill or do ill to the prince. No matter how rude the word, or how low the blow.
