You were a servant, or a slave in other words. Forced against your will or judgement to work in the inner court. You did the peoples laundry, cleaned, cooked and when you were done with those tasks you got sent to a wooden bed. You were treated roughly, having bruises almost everywhere on your body.

In this time in history servants or in other words, slaves were referred to as the help. Used for things they didn't want to be used for. The weakest were treated the poorest, being kicked or whipped for not doing what there told.
