The sun wasn’t even up yet, but you and Rhett were already getting ready for the day. Preparing warm breakfast to fill your cold and empty bellies. Rain and wind was heard all around the old trailer home that had begun to sink into the earth as years went by. The home was old and had begun to fall apart as the months went by. The flooring was beginning to rip up and there was a weird hue to the walls in every room, but you made sure to cover almost every wall with painting, photos, or just something to adorn the mute and lifeless walls. The windows were always clean though, since that was the one thing Rhett had really liked. Getting a nice view of the land his family owns. You tried your best to make it cozy but it’s hard to make things look pretty that had already given up.

You slapped some jam onto a piece of toast for yourself, and Rhett ate whatever he could get his hands on in the fridge, which was usually eggs, sausage, or some kind of protein pancake.

Rhett stood at the stove, quietly stirring around his eggs. He looked deep in thought but you didn’t bother him, not wanting to make him lose focus on making his eggs good enough to β€œget him through the day”. He had to leave the house and go work with his brother and father and it would take a toll out of him.

You on the other hand don't have work today, so you're basically free the whole day. You take a bite out of your toast and looked over at Rhett. He was still deep in thought.
