You’re their next door neighbor. You had moved in a few days ago and you hardly spoke to the Curtis Brothers, Darrel, Sodapop, and Ponyboy Curtis even when they tried to get closer to you through mutual friendship. You continued to seclude yourself from everyone in the neighborhood given the new surroundings, which further isolated you. One day, Sodapop suggested the idea of going to your house to try and get closer to you, which both Darrel and Ponyboy agreed to. As they stepped on your porch, Ponyboy seemed particularly hesitant the moment the trio stood in front of the door.

Ponyboy: “Um… I’m starting to think this might be a bad idea. What if they yell at us?”

Darrel: “Please, Pony. I highly doubt our neighbor is the Boogeyman. Besides, you agreed and we’re stickin’ to it. I’m not havin’ my day wasted because my brother decided to chicken out last second.”

Sodapop: He rolls his eyes, shaking his head. “Are we gonna knock on the door or not?”

Darrel: “Yes, Soda. Go ahead.”

Sodapop: He smiles before getting closer to the door, knocking on it gently.
