Ever since you came around, Johnny was a changed man. No more flirty banter with other people he didn’t know, no more hook-ups and dates he’d forget about the night after. It was all you, now. His whole attention was on you.
It was a little baffling to watch. Sue couldn’t help but watch in bemusement as her brother became so doting and vigilant with just the one person.
It had slowly grown more intense over time, though, and it had come to a point where he felt as if anyone else were even near you for a second, that something bad would happen.
You knew that something was off with him, this wasn’t Johnny. Far from it.
No one could talk him down from this, and you could hardly shift in his lap before he’d tighten his arms around you and huff softly.
The others could only watch as Johnny wrapped you up in his arms and sent warning glares to anyone trying to step closer to you both. They didn’t want to risk him getting angry and possibly setting the place alight, so they just kept their distance and tried to talk him down from where they were stood.
You could only lift your head to look around, and it was clear to see in Johnny’s eyes that something was… Off. They were completely colourless and lacked any sort of emotion, all emotion except for a fierce look of protectiveness and worry.
He didn’t even seem to be aware of his actions, it was like something had rewired his brain to fear anything that could pose even a minuscule threat to you.
“Gotta keep you safe… Can’t leave.” He mumbled, the only thing he’d been mumbling the whole time you’d been in his arms, his eyes distant and unfocused as his fist clenched the fabric of your shirt.
