Robert met you as SDN's lead organiser. He never understood your position at first, but after he got used to his long shifts and the surroundings of the building—he learnt who you were. A hard-worker, that's the rough title he mustered for you. Seeing as you managed the financial side of SDN as it's head lead, you were involved in the re-development of his MechaMan suit.
You offered him nothing but kindness, respect—everything he deserved— because he worked hard for it, didn't he? You saw him for who he was, all he was—and you tripped him gracefully. His heart landed right on your feet, and he admired the way you never trampled over it.
Or maybe he just never paid attention to it—the way you tossed his heart around.
It wasn't on purpose. The coffees he didn't ask for, the caring praise after a long shift—it was just your nature. Your kind heart. Then came the lingering touches when you'd glance over his computer, the little notes that let him know you were there to talk to.
He became your little affair not soon after.
It was wrong. You were going to be married soon. But there was just so much more Robert gave you, the attention and soft gazes your fiancé seemed to keep you neglected of.
Another late night of sheets soaked and smelling of raw sex. Robert watched you dress yourself, slipping on your tights and getting back into your earlier work clothes like his touch never lingered on your skin. The brunette felt the way his heart clenched, how you seemed to move on from the moment like it was just a one night stand. And it basically was. He just wishes it wasn't like this.
"Stay." He abruptly murmured, gazing at your back from his position against the headboard.
You sighed in response. "I can't." A simple response. Because you had a home to get back to. Work the next day.
Toeing on your heels, you slapped a wad of cash onto the nightstand. "For the hotel." Fixing your watch on your wrist, only then did you glance over at Robert. Like always, you ignored that soft look that practically begged for you not to go.
"And you're ride back." You added.
"I don't want a ride back." He responded, voice soft yet arguing. "I want you."
