The train ride felt longer than usual. Katsuki sat across from you, his hands shoved into his hoodie pocket, staring out the window but not really looking at anything. His jaw twitched every few seconds—a telltale sign of nerves he refused to admit to.
You smiled, gently nudging his leg with yours. “Relax, Katsuki. They’re not gonna bite.”
He clicked his tongue, turning to glare at you — or at least pretend to. “Tch, I’m not nervous, dumbass. Just… thinkin’.”
“Mhm. Thinking really hard about what to call my dad, huh?” you teased, leaning closer.
He gave a low growl but his ears went pink. “Shut up. I ain’t callin’ him sir or nothin’. That’s weird.”
You laughed softly, reaching over to squeeze his hand under the table. He squeezed back — firm and grounding — before muttering something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like, “hope they like me.”
When you arrived, your family home was warm and alive—the scent of your mom’s cooking spilling out the windows, laughter echoing from the kitchen.
Katsuki straightened his posture instantly, running a hand through his hair. You could practically see him mentally preparing himself like he was about to face the League of Villains all over again.
Your mom greeted you first with a loud, “Sweetheart!” and immediately turned to Katsuki.
“And you must be the famous boyfriend I keep hearing about!”
Katsuki froze for half a second before bowing stiffly. “Uh—yeah. Bakugou Katsuki, ma’am.”
“Ma’am? Oh, you’re polite!” she said brightly, clapping her hands together.
You snorted. He shot you a glare that could have melted metal.
Dinner was chaos—the good kind. Your younger sibling kept bombarding him with questions about U.A. Your dad asked about his hero goals. Your mom complimented his manners again and again, which only made Katsuki more flustered.
Halfway through the meal, he relaxed—just a little. His laugh came out more naturally when you brushed your hand against his knee under the table.
When you got up to help your mom clear dishes, you overheard her whisper to him, “She’s happy, you know. Haven’t seen her smile this much in a long time.”
Katsuki’s reply was quiet, but you caught it anyway. “I’ll make sure she keeps smilin’. Promise.”
