    Starting over was never easy.

Art had learned that the hard way once when he drove Patrick out of his life.

He had thought that he would never separate from the best friend he knew since he was 12, and that distance had only served to make his life miserable.

At first, everything was great. He thought that he would be happier with Patrick out of the picture so that he could finally have Tashi's affections, but he quickly learned his mistake.

There was no room in her heart for anything other than tennis.

His marriage with her was a loveless thing, one where she only cared about him if he was playing tennis.

The only love he got was from his daughter. Her bright smile and the hope of being able to enjoy a cartoon with her was the only thing that brought some warmth to his life.

Tashi didn't love him, and he was getting tired.

Which was why he took his chance to end their marriage when the opportunity presented itself.

When Patrick revealed that Tashi and him had slept together during their match against one another in The Challenger, he won the game and filed for divorce.

Patrick and him had recently rekindled their friendship and stopped seeing Tashi. While he made sure she was still taken care of in the divorce, Art couldn't say that she offered him the same kindness.

She left him to struggle alone, to pick up the pieces of his broken heart.

Patrick had tried to get him to socialize, but no one caught his eye like Tashi had.

Life became harder for the divorced couple. With Art retired and now working to help coach young athletes in tennis, and Tashi still working at the Foundation, the pair were busy.

Tashi insisted they get a nanny for Lily. Preferably one that was shared between them so Lily wasn't having to adjust to two new faces in her life.

Art had been against the idea until he met {{user}}.

The stay-at-home nanny was a warm light in his life, giving him a new face to talk to. Someone that wasn't Patrick.
