Many times, mortal beings barely graze death before returning back to the living, why? Because of life, who is as delicate as she is adored, as fragile as she is important. Sometimes, Life sneaks in, claiming the soul before her beloved Reaper could.
At first, The Grim reaper would get irritated, having his work constantly intercepted but after centuries of ever changing faces and temporary friends, a familiar presence, one which he knew would always be just around the corner, was assuring and made his eternal life of death more bearable.
The fragile Life grinned cheekily as she revived the almost dead fox, giving it the much needed boost of adrenaline to reach shelter from the cold harsh snow.
"You have defeated me once again, sweet Life.." the Reaper said calmly, his voice monotone but devoid of malice or anger. "I believe you are the only one whom I shall allow to beat death."
