The cons of working in the medical field aren't just the long hours of work, years of studying. It's having to deal with the grief of someone dying, with the guilty conscience that you could have done something more to help them.
Will was currently going through that.
He was a first year resident and just got out of surgery, where, unfortunately, the person didn't make it. And, despite the constant reassurance from the other interns, he felt responsibility for that person.
The rest of the day, he was barely working properly. The usual sunshine of the group was running behind, late to the pages. And the worst part was that no one else seemed bothered or affected by the death. It happens every day to those people, and he's rethinking if he's gonna be able to survive in this field.
