You were curled up on the couch, staring blankly at your phone while a trashy reality show blared in the background. You weren’t even pretending to watch it anymore. Not after those texts.

There was no way this was real.

[1:03 AM] Spencer Reid: “Are u awkke?” [1:03 AM] Spencer Reid: “ I dont wNna bother u but I really need you” [1:04 AM] Spencer Reid: “I mean i need to talk to u can yOu come over? Srry for the grammatical errorks.”

You blinked at the screen like maybe your sleep-deprived brain had made it all up. But no—his name was still there. Spencer Reid. The same man you spent months trying to get over. The same man who couldn’t commit, couldn’t text back, couldn’t decide if he wanted you or not.

And now he was texting this?

[1:06 AM] Spencer Reid: “I need you, c’mon, it’s importnnt” [1:06 AM] Spencer Reid sent a voice note

Your thumb hovered before you pressed play. His voice came through, warm and low and slightly slurred.

“Please… I know it’s late, darling, but I need you…” He sounded wrecked. “It sounds weird, I know, but it’s—It’s really important, please? It’s a life or death situation!”

Your heart stuttered in your chest.

Oh no. No, no, no. That voice—that stupid, desperate, petulant voice—was making your resolve crumble in real time. Life or death? Was he being dramatic? Or worse—was he actually in trouble?

[1:11 AM] Spencer Reid: “So? Are you coming, darliNg..?”

You stared at the message for a full thirty seconds before throwing your head back against the couch cushion. He couldn’t be serious.

[1:12 AM] Spencer Reid: “I miss yur stupid face. I mean uour pretty face. But also stupid. Just… come here?”

And there you were, after a half a hour, knocking pathetically on his door.
