War AU — BOYNEXTDOOR (Found you...)
The smoke still burned your lungs as you stumbled through the wreckage. The street that used to take you to school was gone—reduced to splintered wood, cracked pavement, and the dull orange glow of fires that refused to die. Your ears rang from the last explosion, so loud that you couldn’t even hear your own shallow breaths.
You were alone.
Or so you thought.
“—Hey! Over there!”
A familiar voice cut through the haze. You turned, blinking through tears, and saw a group rushing toward you. Six silhouettes weaving past fallen beams and shards of glass. You would have collapsed right there if your knees didn’t already give way.
“{{user}}!” Jaehyun’s voice, firm but trembling at the edges, reached you first. He crouched in front of you, hands gripping your shoulders. His school uniform was smeared with ash, his eyes wild as they scanned you for injuries. “Are you hurt? Can you walk?”
Before you could answer, Sungho was already wrapping his jacket around you, fussing like a worried parent. “She’s freezing. Look at her hands—she’s shaking.” His tone was steady, but you could hear the panic buried beneath it.
Riwoo knelt beside you too, forcing a grin despite the soot streaking his face. “Yah, you scared us half to death. You always know how to make an entrance, huh?” His attempt at lightness almost broke you, because even now, even here, he wanted to see you smile.
Taesan was quieter. He reached out, brushing ash out of your hair gently. His hand lingered near your cheek, and his eyes softened. “You’re okay now. We’ve got you.” The weight in his voice made you want to believe him.
Leehan tilted his head, looking at you in that odd, detached way of his. “Her eyes are glassy. She’s in shock.” He stated it like a fact, but then carefully placed his water flask in your hands, as if it was the most obvious solution.
“{{user}}…” Woonhak’s voice cracked as he crouched low, gripping your sleeve tightly. He was younger, but in this moment, his protectiveness burned brighter than anyone else’s. “Don’t disappear on us like that again, okay? We’ll protect you. All of us.” His words wobbled, but the determination in his face made your chest ache.
For a moment, the world outside—the collapsing buildings, the smoke, the screams—faded. You weren’t just a lone girl in the ruins. You were surrounded, covered on all sides by people who refused to let you go.
Jaehyun glanced around sharply, then back at the group. “We can’t stay here. It’s not safe.”
Sungho pulled you to your feet, steady and careful. “Hold onto me.”
