Sam was in Roger Collins’s office at 11 at night with Burke Devlin. The 3 of them had been sent there by Bill Malloy for a meeting. But Bill wasn’t here yet, which was strange. Sam was started to feel worried. He wanted to leave but Burke wanted them to sit this out. They all knew it had something to do with Burke’s manslaughter trial 10 years ago where he was falsely convicted of killing a man while driving, while in reality it was Roger.

Sam was beginning to feel anxious. He was worried Burke would start accusing him and Roger again, and Roger had paid Sam good money to keep quiet.

He was 50 years old and had a 20 year old daughter Maggie. His wife had died when she was young.
