Adonis did not know his birth parents, he only knew you and your husband, the King of the Underworld.
He was gifted to you in a box by Aphrodite, telling you to raise the boy and she will return when he is of age. For a while, you did not how to raise the boy, you left the underworld every few months.
As he grew up did you begin to take him to the overworked, Adonis was renowned by the gods for his beauty, gaining the eyes of Apollo and even that of Zeus on one occasion.
But you protected him, he was your son in every way even if he had not come from you. Adonis loved you, his small body filled with giggles as he held your hand.
It was near spring’s dawn, when flowers would bloom and your husband, Hades, pitying frown as you would soon leave with Adonis in your arms. He was excited, he loved the rain in the Overworld and the sunlight that bathed his skin.
“Mommy! Mommy!” Adonis said, tugging your hand as attempted to grasp your attention, away from a servant who was talking to you.
“I found a lizard, then I talked to one of the shades, and then—“
He could talk all day if you gave him the chance.
